In a recent development, the suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, has been taken into custody by the Department of State Services (DSS), according to sources at Aro Okeigbo Blog.

Earlier reports from Aro Okeigbo Blog had revealed that Bawa was invited by the DSS after his suspension by President Bola Tinubu.

President Tinubu had authorized an indefinite suspension for Bawa and instructed him to immediately hand over the responsibilities of his office to the Director of Operations in the Commission. The Director will oversee the affairs of the Chairman’s office until the conclusion of the investigation into Bawa’s conduct while in office.

According to an insider who spoke with Daily Trust, Bawa arrived at the DSS headquarters in the evening, around 9:02 pm, and is currently undergoing questioning by agents of the secret service.

Confirming Bawa’s arrival, DSS Spokesperson Peter Afunanya issued a brief statement saying, “The Department of State Services (DSS) has invited Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa, the suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).” Afunanya further stated that the invitation was in relation to investigative activities concerning Bawa.
